The interplay among digitalization, agriculture and environment: A systematic analysis

The agricultural sector is experiencing a remarkable evolution driven by cutting-edge information and communication technologies. This evolution is transforming traditional farming practices and creating new opportunities for environmental improvement. A systematic literature review indicates that Agriculture 5.0 has emerged and become widespread. While recent studies concentrate on various facets of digitalization in agricultural production, they often overlook critical aspects of environmental protection. This research gap is particularly noticeable in emerging economies, which calls for a more structured approach. By synthesizing f indings from 57 related published articles, this study underscores the potential of digitalization to enhance environmental sustainability in agricultural production. Therefore, tackling the challenges of integrating these advanced technologies into farming systems is warranted for sustainable agricultural development.
