This study aims to identify the impact of mergers and acquisitions (M&As) on the financial performance of Vietnamese firms. The study employs a secondary data collection method, gathering data from annual reports, and financial statements of various firms involved in M&As during the 3 years before and after the M&A event. The research sample consists of 43 M&A transactions that took place in 2019 and were listed on the Vietnam Stock Exchange. The results indicate that the ROA is likely to decrease significantly due to M&As; the ROE is also likely to experience a greater decline than the ROA post-M&A. In contrast, EPS may increase, while the impact of M&As on NPM remains inconclusive.
