After two years of difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the world continues to face the increasingly existential threat of the global food crisis with the sudden increase in food prices and hunger all over the world. As the world's population reaches 8 billion people by 2022, the task of ensuring global food security becomes more urgent than ever. The global food security crisis is affecting almost all countries in the world, including Vietnam. Besides the negative effects, the global food security crisis also brings opportunities for Vietnam, especially in increasing rice exports and affirming Vietnam's important role in ensuring global food security. The article provides an overview of the global food security situation, analyzes the impact of the global food security crisis on Vietnam's rice exports, and gives some suggestions for Vietnam to take advantage of opportunities in a new context.
