The impact of geopolitical risks on firm performance in vietnamese listed firms

This study examines the impact of geopolitical risks (GPR) on firm performance of Vietnamese listed companies from 2010 to 2022. GPR is designed to measure adverse geopolitical events and associated risks based on a tally of 10 prestigious newspaper articles covering geopolitical tensions and examining its evolution and economic effects available on Dario Caldara and Matteo Iacoviello’s website. The findings from multivariate regression models show a negative relationship between geopolitical risks and firm performance measure in Vietnamese listed firms during the period of 2010-2022. This study suggests that the government should promote policies to reduce geopolitical risks and formulate strategies to derive benefits from geopolitical positions.
