Tóm tắt
Corporations with weak management systems significantly increase risks, leading to inefficient operations and financial distress. The authors' research selects corporate governance characteristics such as corporate ownership, ownership concentration, gender issues, board size, board independence, and CEO duality as factors to forecast financial distress for Vietnamese listed enterprises in the mining industry. The research combines the corporate governance predictors with other variables such as financial ratios and macroeconomic factors in a panel data sample over a 10-year period for predicting financial distress. The results show that corporate governance alone is not sufficient to forecast effectively financial difficulties for Vietnamese mining companies. The predictive power of the model appears to be performing much better in combination with financial ratios and macroeconomic factors.
